Initial Unemployment Benefit Claims Fall Less Than Expected, Setting New Lows in More Than a Year

The Department of Labor reported that initial claims for unemployment benefits they fell by 9,000 in the week ended June 5 to 376,000. The figure was higher than the 370,000 expected from the market consensus. It was the sixth week in a row with declines and a new low was reached in more than a year.

Regarding the continued requestsThese showed better than expected numbers, registering a fall of 258,000 in the week ended May 29 to 3,499,000, lower than the 3.6 million of the market consensus. It is the lowest level since March 2020.

In another report it was known that inflation in May rose to 5% (annual). The dollar it first reacted with a strong rise, but then reversed the trend falling to lows for the day.
