ND MP George Koumoutsakos proposes the transfer of a parliamentary delegation to Kyiv as practical political and moral support for Ukraine. Specifically, in a letter to the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Konstantinos Tassoulas, he suggests a visit to the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, by a delegation of the Greek Parliament, consisting of the Bureau and members of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs. Greece-Ukraine friendship.
In his letter, Mr. Koumoutsakos stressed that “the dramatic developments and the apparent continuation of military invasion operations by the Russian Federation speak in favor of further political support for Ukraine.”
Recalling that “since the beginning of the war, the Greek Government has taken a clear position in favor of Ukraine, a position that is fully compatible with the timeless principles and values of Greek foreign policy, such as the independence of states, their sovereignty and protection of their territorial integrity “, Mr. Koumoutsakos proposes the visit of a delegation of the Greek Parliament in the capital of Ukraine. “A visit with essential and very symbolic significance at the present stage of the Ukrainian crisis” notes Mr. Koumoutsakos.
The text of the letter follows.
To:
Speaker of Parliament
Office of the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament
Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs
Chairman of the Greece-Ukraine Friendship Group
Mr President,
The dramatic developments in the Ukrainian issue and the emerging continuation of military invasion operations by the Russian Federation speak of further coordinated support for Ukraine by the European Union, the United States, NATO and its member states.
From the very beginning, the Greek Government – like the majority of the country’s political forces – has rightly taken a clear position in favor of Ukraine. It is a position fully compatible with the timeless principles and values of Greek Foreign Policy: the protection of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of states. These principles were violated by Putin’s Russia on February 24, 2022, in a blatant and blatant violation of International Law and the Charter of the United Nations.
In the context of the actions of Parliamentary diplomacy, I believe that it would be very appropriate for the Greek Parliament to further support Ukraine politically and morally.
In this spirit, I submit to you the proposal to pay a visit to Kyiv by a delegation of the Greek Parliament consisting of the Bureau and members of the Standing Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs and the Greece-Ukraine Friendship Group.
With price,
George S. Koumoutsakos
