At least 17 states in Brazil are on orange alert (danger) for heavy rains between today (26) and Saturday (27). The warning was issued by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).
In the first warning, which covers most of the Brazilian territory, the alert is for rainfall of 30 and 60 mm/h or 50 and 100 mm/day, with intense winds that can reach 100 km/h.
The alert is valid for the areas: Northeast of Pará, Central South of Bahia, Vale São-Franciscano of Bahia, Southeast of Pará, Western of Tocantins, West of Maranhão, Southeast of Piauiense, São Francisco Pernambucano, Marajó, Central-North of Piauiense, East of Goiano, Vale do Mucuri, North of Minas, South of Bahia, East of Tocantins, Jequitinhonha, North of Mato Grosso, Southwest of Pará, Northeast of Mato Grosso, North of Goiano, East of Rondoniense, South of Maranhão, Southwest of PiauÃ, Central North of Bahia, Metropolitan of Belém, Far West Baiano, South Amazonense, Northeast Bahia, Center Maranhense, Sertão Pernambucano, Northwest of Minas, Central Amazonense, East Maranhense, North Maranhense, Lower Amazonas, Madeira-Guaporé, Metropolitan of Salvador, North Coast EspÃrito Santo, Northwest EspÃrito Santo, Northwest Goiano, Centro Goiano.
The second orange alert covers the entire coast of Santa Catarina, part of the coast of Rio Grande do Sul and a large part of the coast of Paraná. See regions: Greater Florianópolis, Metropolitan of Curitiba, North of Santa Catarina, South of Santa Catarina, Metropolitan of Porto Alegre, Vale do ItajaÃ, South Coast of São Paulo, Serrana, Northeast of Rio Grande do Sul.
