Inmet predicts above-average rainfall in the North and South for May

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) released its climate forecast for the month of May 2024, indicating an increase in above-average rainfall in vast areas of the North and South regions of Brazil. The expectation also extends to the east of the Southeast Region and to specific areas in the center-south of the Northeast Region.

The state of Roraima is expected to be the most affected by rain next month, with the central region expected to receive up to 200 millimeters of precipitation. According to Inmet, the rains could especially benefit agricultural regions, favoring the development and harvest of first and second harvest crops.

However, the forecast also points to rainfall close to and below average in parts of the extreme north and south of the North Region, north of the Northeast Region, Central-West Region, interior of the Southeast Region and in areas of central-north Paraná. see the report complete.

Temperatures are forecast to be above average across the country, with special attention to the central portion of Brazil. The North and Northeast regions can experience temperatures exceeding 26ºC, while in the Southeast region, thermometers must vary between 20ºC and 22ºC.

In the South Region, temperatures should be below 20ºC, with even lower values ​​in higher altitude areas, which could be below 14ºC.
