The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a warning of intense rain for almost the entire country this weekend. According to the agency, 24 states and the Federal District are under alert.
The most affected regions are expected to be the coast of Santa Catarina, south-central Ceará, central Piauí, western Paraíba and northwestern Pernambuco, in addition to a large part of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia and Goiás. The alert begins this Friday (12) and runs until the end of Saturday morning (13).
In these regions of greatest danger, the accumulated volume of rain can vary between 50 and 100 millimeters per day, with winds of up to 100 km/h. Inmet also warned of the risks of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.

South
Until Saturday morning, the forecast for Greater Florianópolis, North and South Santa Catarina and Vale do Itajaí is heavy rain.
Furthermore, Inmet's warning for the danger of coastal winds in the Greater Florianópolis region extends until Tuesday (16).
North
The chance of heavy rain in the region is concentrated in Amapá and Pará, including in the state capitals. In an alert issued by Inmet, valid until Saturday morning, intense rains are also expected to hit the North of Amazonas and Piauí, and could happen at any time.
North East
Inmet's danger alert for South Cearense and Southeast Piauí begins today and runs until Saturday. According to Maria Clara Sassaki, meteorology specialist at Tempo Ok, rain remains frequent and heavy, especially in Maranhão, Piauí, Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte.
Furthermore, there is a risk of flooding and overflows. In eastern Paraíba and Pernambuco, in Alagoas, Sergipe and eastern Bahia, the expected amount of water is less than in previous days, but the situation is critical due to the waterlogged soil.
Midwest
Inmet's warning of intense rain for eastern Mato Grosso do Sul and central Goiano is valid until tomorrow.
According to Sassaki, there is a risk of isolated, short-lived storms, but these could be voluminous due to a flow of moisture arriving from the North.
Southeast
According to the meteorological specialist at Tempo Ok, in the Southeast of the country the chances of rain increase in the capital of São Paulo on Sunday (14).
Furthermore, due to a “circulation of humid winds from the sea”, cloud formation increases in the east of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo, with a chance of rain in coastal areas.
