Inquiry into political manipulation of public opinion: ND’s finding approved

With the majority approval of the conclusion of the deputies of the ND parliamentary group, the work of the Committee of Inquiry “on the investigation of the political manipulation of public opinion, degradation of institutions and waste of public money” completed with the proposal of SYRIZA was completed and supported by of the opposition.

At the twelfth meeting of the Committee, the rapporteurs of the parliamentary groups presented their findings which were submitted last Friday to the Secretariat of the Inquiry and were made public.

The result of ND, which was put to a roll-call vote as a result of the Commission, was approved with the positive vote of the 15 members of the majority parliamentary group, while it was voted against by the 12 members of the Committee from the opposition parties. Independent MP Konstantinos Bogdanos, who participated in the work of the Committee of Inquiry as a representative of the independent MPs, voted “present”. MERA25 abstained from the beginning of the work of the Examination Committee.

The conclusion of the Commission, with the attached opinion opinions expressed by the opposition parties, was submitted to the Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and now for their discussion in the Plenary there must be a relevant request that will be signed by at least 60 deputies. .

The statistics of the Examination

According to the statistics of the work of the Examination Committee presented by the president of Giannis Kefalogiannis, from November 23, 2021 when the Committee was established until today, twelve meetings were held, which lasted about 47 hours, without taking into account the hours of today’s last meeting. The Minutes of the meetings number about 2,500 pages. The Commission examined 14 witnesses in person, and an additional three witnesses, due to their permanent residence abroad and restrictive travel conditions, answered questions in writing from members of the Commission. The incoming documents requested by the Commission or submitted by the witnesses during their examination and which will be included in the introductory part of the report number 9,759 pages, without counting the electronic files with audio or visual material.
