“Inside Out 2” Surpasses First Film at the Box Office

Showing in cinemas for two weeks, “Inside Out 2” (2024) surpassed the box office of the first film of US$858.8 million (around R$4.7 billion) by raising US$863.2 million (around R$4.8 billion).

Pixar’s animation also became the highest-grossing film of 2024 to date, surpassing “Dune: Part 2”, which debuted on the big screen in February and grossed US$711.8 million (about R$3.8 billion).

The sequel to the 2015 animation premiered in the United States and other countries on June 14. In Brazil, the production was launched last Thursday (20) and had the biggest opening for an animation in the country, taking more than 4.5 million to theaters.

The plot has a time jump in relation to the first feature and the protagonist Riley is now a teenager. Along with her maturation, the young girl’s mind control room is also undergoing demolition to make way for new emotions.

The familiar Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who have long run a successful operation, are unsure how to feel when the new tenants, Anxiety, Envy, Boredom and Shame, arrive on the scene.
