Inside the wedding of Buffon and Ilaria D’amico: the photos with their children, the dedications and the soundtrack of the ceremony

More than seven days have passed since fairytale wedding – but perhaps we should say fantasy films considering the presence of dthe Tim Burtons – Between Ilaria d’Amico and Gianluigi Buffonwho swore eternal love to each other on Saturday 28 September in San Pancrazio, in the province of Lucca.

The day after the ceremony held in Villa Olivathe newlyweds celebrated with an informal brunch in what is home for Gigi: the bathing establishment The Romanina of Marina dei Ronchi, a few steps from Forte dei Marmiowned by his family.

Much was said immediately about the wedding weekend of one of the most glamorous couples in the world of football – played and told – but as the days pass, many are emerging little curiosities and background that perhaps you had missed.

Who officiated the ceremony

The civil ceremony, which was attended by around two hundred guests, was officiated by the Mediaset journalist Francesca Fogar, daughter of the explorer Ambrogio and great friend of the bride.

The date of the wedding, which arrived after 10 years of love and a child together, as often happens with footballers and their spouses, was dictated by the football agenda. In fact, the two should have sealed their love in June but, as confirmed in an interview a few months ago by Ilaria D’Amico, given the European football championships scheduled in Germany and Gigi’s role as head of delegation of the Italian national team, the real risk would have been to get married «in a Bavarian brewery”.

Joking about the postponement of the wedding, the journalist then compared her couple to that of Renzo and Lucia de The Betrothedbut if that wedding wasn’t a possibility for them, fortunately it went differently for the two well-known faces.

Eighties disco music style party

There music we know, at weddings it matters a lot, and the one chosen by the spouses rather faithfully reflected the two souls of the party. Classic for the ceremonywhich had as its background the notes played by the Tuscan string quartet “Etrusca Musica” and as its culminating moment the performance of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah in Jeff Buckely’s version. Disco for the 80s style evening party in the lemon house of the villa, set up on a theme complete with a stroboscopic ball.

The groomsman: friend and teacher

Many eyes, as well as newspaper headlines, there’s no denying it, were for Monica Bellucci, but she obviously wasn’t the only one witness. While the bride’s trio was also composed of Georgia Cavazzano and the journalist Angela Pedrini; the groom he wanted his lifelong friends at his side: Paolo Luchi, Gianluca Baccarini and Alessandro Nista.

The latter also had significant weight on his career. Having met in Parma in 1995 when Nista was about to end his career as a goalkeeper and Buffon was starting it, the two then met again in Turin in 2009, with Nista this time in the role of goalkeeping coach. A thirty-year friendship tested on the training fields of Gigi’s two favorite teams – Parma and Juventus – culminating in last week’s party. «Being here, as a witness, I believe is the best testimony of what our relationship has been in recent years – underlined Nista. – We shared many things, a lifestyle and a way of seeing life that has always united us and led us to be the friends we are. Let’s say I was his older brother, when he arrived in Parma he was a little boy, but he has always been very mature and we immediately got along well.”

The honeymoon? In Sicily

After greeting relatives and friends, Gigi and Ilaria indulged a few days of relaxation in solitude in Sicily, and in particular in the province of Trapani. As some local newspapers report, the two were spotted at San Vito Lo Capo, Castellammare del Golfo and at the famous Sunset bar Mamma Caura at Saline Ettore and Infersa Marsala.

Gossip and comments on the ceremony and in general the love of the former footballer and the journalist have been wasted in recent days, but they have limited themselves to making social media talk, where Buffon has inserted a carousel of photos with his children and wife and the writing “The meaning of everything”. At the center of the ceremony, the children: the two had by Buffon with Alena Seredova (David Lee and Louis Thomas), her son Pietro (born from her previous relationship with the entrepreneur Rocco Attisani) and the son that Buffon and D’Amico had together, little Leopoldo Mattia, who is now eight years old.
