Singing, dancing, laughter and a lot of joy shared between very few close friends, family and closest friends: these were the magical ingredients of the wedding most romantic of the year celebrated in the magnificent Venetian setting, between Olivia Testa, daughter of Fiorello’s wife (Susanna Biondo), and the Milanese, Ansperto Radice Fossati Confalonieri.
The two young people decided to officially crown their union in the most evocative city in the world, as well as the city of Olivia’s maternal grandmother. The couple got married last Saturday in a civil ceremony the bride, pregnant (in her eighth month), arrived along the Grand Canal on board a motorboat (a Venetian topper to be precise), accompanied by her two dads who also escorted her to the altar. Olivia, beaming, entered the ceremony room, arm in arm with Odoardo Testa, her biological father, and the legendary Rosario Fiorello, her stepfather who appeared prouder than ever.
The bride’s entrance with the two fathers: Odoardo Testa and Rosario Fiorello
An unusual and emotional scene, symbol of a very united extended family, which reminds us how important strong and sincere family bonds are, especially on such a special day. Regardless of blood ties, the heart is always in charge. AND Olivia he didn’t want to give up any of his great affections. The bride, as a child, had promised Rosario that if she ever got married one day, together with her father, he would also be there for her. And so it was.
The bond between Fiorello and Olivia doesn’t need many words. The bride, in fact, was only three years old when mother Susanna and Rosario Fiorello started dating in 1996 and then got married on 14 June 2003 in an intimate ceremony, in the presence of only 18 guests, in the deconsecrated church of Caracalla. «The secret is for adults to get along. I have always had a peaceful relationship with Olivia’s biological father”, the showman said in an interview with Vanity Fair of 2017.
The extended family more united than ever
After all, the irresistible host loves to define himself a “sparkling father”. Fiorello has never hidden the great affection he feels for his wife’s first daughter, saying that he is a father twice, of Olivia and Angelica, and joking with a well-known weekly magazine about his paternal authority, he revealed: «I can’t get angry with my daughters. When I try to raise my voice, they laugh. They say I make them laugh when I get angry (…). When, jokingly, [Olivia] she tells me I’m not her natural father, I tell her she’s right.”
And it was Fiorello himself a few months ago, during a show in Taormina, who gave the happy news of Olivia’s pregnancy with his usual verve that distinguishes him, announcing with great joy that he would soon become a grandfather. Immediately afterwards, pointing to his mother Sara sitting among the spectators, he exclaimed: “And you, mother, will still become a great-grandmother.” Grandma Sara, with whom Fiorello has a very close relationship based on deep affection, was naturally in the front row among the guests at Olivia and Ansperto’s wedding in Venice.
For the big day Olivia she chose to wear an ivory-colored empire-cut dress, with long puff sleeves and a silk velvet cape, designed by the groom’s cousin, the stylist Carlotta Orlando, creator of the Giglio Tigrato brand. She also celebrated with the same dress later, during the reception (a minimalist choice, against the trend of the moment, which we really like).
The mother of the bride, Susanna Biondo, was also very chic, with a teal-colored silk and satin suit, designed by Armani, while Fiorello, for the big day, chose a dark suit with tie, also by Armani. At the bride’s side, her sister Angelica, Susanna’s second daughter, born from the union with Fiorello, and her younger brother Orlando Testa, son of her father Odoardo.
The day he asked her to marry him…
Olivia and Ansperto have been dating for several years and met in Rome, the bride’s hometown. Distinguishing features: reserved and very much in love. Both are very jealous of their privacyalmost surprised that there is so much talk about their wedding which they want to leave a mystery behind.
Even the marriage proposal is worthy of a fairy tale. Before discovering the wonderful news of Olivia’s pregnancy, Ansperto had planned to ask her the big question during an excursion on one of their favorite via ferratas in the Dolomites. However, given the location was not suitable for an expectant mother, she had to change plans. In the end, the proposal took place in Milan, right under the door of their house, with their beloved dogs for company. To make the moment even more special and original, Ansperto invited a mariachi group to play, which Olivia adores, being a great fan of Mexico and Mexican culture.
The noble Milanese family: the Radice Fossati Confalonieri
The groom has an important surname belonging to one of the most noble and prestigious families of the Milanese aristocracy “del Cappuccio”, from the name of the family palace in the street of the same name called “Contrada dei Nobili di Porta Vercellina”. Here in the winding and fascinating streets of the historic center stand elegant period buildings that hide dreamy courtyards and secret gardens.
Blond, tall and with style to spare, illustrator and graphic designer, Ansperto, who has three older brothers, is the son of Carlo Radice Fossati Confalonieri, former Christian Democrat councilor for urban planning of the municipality of Milan (the “rebel count of the DC”). His mother, however, is Giulia Michon Pecori, an esteemed portraitist, interior decorator and expert in the art of receiving. Today he lives in the Tuscan countryside. Ansperto, a popular designer, seems to have taken his creative streak from his mother.
Ansperto’s passion for graphics and design
Rather shy when it comes to remembering his noble origins, the groom loves to talk about his passion for his work in the field of graphics rather than his noble surname, which has given him so much satisfaction so far with his signature that stands out under editorial illustrations, fashion illustrations and advertising campaigns.
Olivia, brunette and very similar to her mother Susanna, studied communication in Milan, with a past in the world of production of both advertising campaigns and events and today she is part of the organization committee of the Milan – Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics Ceremonies. Having always grown up far from the spotlight, the new bride, however, does not like to talk about herself and, speaking of weddings, he prefers to let the images and the sparkle in their eyes speak for themselves.
The reception cheered up by the television showman
The wedding reception was cheered up by an irrepressible Fiorello who, with his usual desire to party, infected everyone, newlyweds and guests, involving them in dances and songs. At the time of cutting the cake (a three-tier wedding cake decorated with fresh flowers), the host wanted to dedicate the song “to the spouses”It won’t be an adventure”. Thanks to Fiorello’s verve, always cheerful and full of lifetogether with the love of the few and selected guests, at Olivia and Ansperto’s wedding there was the authentic atmosphere of a truly large extended family which made the event truly unforgettable.
