The Call “Adolescent Mode” it was announced by the goal, owner of the social network, after pressure for measures that protect young people on the platform. In addition to Brazil, the new limitations were also announced in India.
One of the main changes is that, from the update, the profiles of users under 18 will become private. With this, unknown accounts that want to interact with publications will have to be approved manually.
According to the goal, “with the Instagram adolescent account, these protections are activated by default, and parents can decide whether adolescents under 16 are allowed to change any of these settings to be less restricted.”

Message Restriction and Time Management
With the new activated mode, adolescents will only be able to receive messages via DM (direct message) from people who are already following. In addition, Instagram will activate new restrictions on the “hidden words” feature, which filters offensive terms.
The social network will still decrease the recommendation of posts considered sensitive, such as involving topics such as violence and promoting aesthetic surgeries.
Children under 18 will also be able to choose topics of interest so that they appear more often during access to Instagram at the exploration session.
Another point of change is the longer time management that young people spend in the application. After a daily use of 60 minutes, Instagram will start sending notifications encouraging the shutdown.
Parental control
