Instagram: is the number of likes in posts returning?

Instagram could retrace its steps and make public the number of likes received by each photo: we could thus review the exact figures relating to the “hearts” of each post, instead of generic “others like it”, “thousands” or “millions of people”. All thanks to new, highly customized settings.

He showed them with screenshots – which are now bouncing around in newspapers around the world – the well-informed developer Alessandro Paluzzi, on Twitter @ alex193a.

According to Paluzzi’s previews, the function would be optional: that is, each user could decide whether to be the only one who sees how many people “like” his photo (as now), or whether to make the information public. Just go to the advanced settings and select the appropriate item. Another novelty could be the possibility to choose whether or not to see the number of likes on the photos of others.

Thus it would change the way of approaching Instagram, which has eliminated the counting in 2019 to ensure that a “race” based on the number of likes is not created among users with potentially very negative and serious effects, especially among the youngest. This new version would offer a perfect middle ground.
