Instagram, this is how direct messages change

Meta has announced a major change in internal private communications at Instagram. A rather long-awaited update: it will be possible soon disable display notifications within direct messages. That is, private conversations. The famous “View» under the last message or content sent, often accompanied by information on the time (for example, «Viewed 11h ago») can therefore be deleted, so that the interlocutor can’t possibly know whether what he sent was actually viewed.

Both Mark Zuckerberg and the head of Instagram announced it Adam Mosseri on their official channels on Instagram, in the second case on IG Updates. «You asked and we listened – wrote Mosseri, Zuck’s right-hand man for years – we collected your feedback and started testing a new feature that allows you to disable read receipts from direct messages. Soon people will be able to choose if and when to let their interlocutors know that they have read their messages.”

The option can be managed through the «Privacy and Security», where it will be possible to choose – in addition to numerous other settings – who can see the activity relating to reading messages. Simply turn off the switch to make all view information private. Likewise, exactly as happens by disabling the blue ticks on Whatsapp – another product from the Meta galaxy – it will not be possible to obtain read confirmations on sent messages. The only exception to the new rule concerns i temporary contentswho will still keep the reading receipt.
