Instagram users report loss of followers and blocked accounts

Users from at least seven countries reported, this Monday (31), a flaw in Instagram that blocks profiles or decreases the number of followers of the accounts.

Downdetector, a website that monitors problems on digital platforms, has already registered more than 1,600 complaints as of this morning.

About 54% of the reports are related to problems with the application, 40% problems with login and 6% with server connection. The website points out that the app crash started around 10:00 am. The last problem presented by Instagram was last Thursday (27).

Blocked profiles receive a notification giving the user a chance to regain access to the app within 30 days. However, users claim not to receive the authentication code needed to log into the app.

Those who didn’t have their account blocked may have seen the number of followers decrease. YouTuber Virginia Fonseca claimed to have lost 200,000 followers.

Users from countries like France, Japan, Italy and Turkey report the same issues. In Brazil, according to data from Downdetector, technical problems are concentrated in Porto Alegre, Curitiba, São Paulo, Brasília, Fortaleza and Recife.

“We are aware that some of you are having trouble accessing your Instagram account. We are looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience,” Instagram said on its official Twitter account.
