Default should have a new high in retail this month, predicts the Brazilian Institute of Retail and Consumer Market Executives (Ibevar).
The estimate for the average monthly rate is 4.35%, an increase of 0.04 percentage point compared to the projection for February and 0.01 compared to the rate carried out in January 2022.
Estimates for April and May also continue to indicate growth in delinquency, with an estimate of a rise to 4.38% next month and 4.44% in May, according to Ibevar.
“The increase in delinquency is due to the erosion of the purchasing power of families as a result of higher inflation, which continues to rise and presents marginal growth month by month”, says Claudio Felisoni de Angelo, president of Ibevar, in a press release.
The entity takes into account the average between the minimum and maximum rates of payment delays over 90 days, around 3.79% to 4.32%.
