Pentium Gold 6500Y belongs to the second wave Amber Lake-Y line, which was introduced a year ago. But then in the lineup the younger model was the Core i3-10110Y. Now, without unnecessary noise, one processor of the Pentium family has appeared in it. It is slightly simpler than the Core i3-10110Y, but at the same time it completely copies the Core m3-8100Y, released back in 2018.
The Core m3-8100Y belongs to the first wave of Amber Lake-Y, but nothing has changed dramatically in three years. It’s still a 14nm process, old GPU and old architecture.
Pentium Gold 6500Y, like Core m3-8100Y, contains two cores with Hyper-Threading support and operates at frequencies of 1.1-3.4 GHz. The only difference is the slightly different TDP range settings. If the old model offered a limit of 4.5 to 8 watts with the standard 5 watts, then the new one remained unchanged, and the range changed to 3.5-7 watts.
Thus, Pentium Gold 6500Y is the youngest CPU in its line, offering basic performance and low power consumption. At the same time, Intel has completely abandoned the Core m line, albeit in part by simply renaming it.
