Intel introduced the NUC 13 Extreme: on a new generation of processors and in a huge package

Yesterday, October 10, at the TwitchCon event, Intel employees officially showed their new Intel Raptor Canyon NUC 13 Extreme gaming computer, which, however, can’t be called compact. Previously, NUC computers were really extremely small and provided a potential buyer with the opportunity to free up workspace from a huge computer case – those days, apparently, have passed. On the other hand, the performance of the new computer should be impressive enough so that the potential buyer does not have to compromise between compactness and power.

For example, a user can select an Intel Core i9-13900K, Core i7-13700K, or Core i5-13600K processor as the basis for this system’s performance. Yes, these are all processors of the Raptor Lake generation – in honor of him, the name Raptor Canyon appeared. Accordingly, all processors available for installation in the new NUC support multiplier overclocking – with high-quality cooling, this allows the user to untie their hands in an attempt to get more power. In addition, what is most interesting, the new NUC supports full-sized video cards – of course, you can’t stuff the RTX 4090 into this case with all your desire, but more compact models will do.

To realize high-quality cooling and support for full-sized graphics cards, Intel decided to create a new NUC in a 13.9-liter case – this is 50% more than the previous generation. Thanks to the increase in the volume of internal space, the company’s engineers managed to fit three slots into the case, which allows you to fully use the Intel Raptor Canyon NUC 13 Extreme with Intel Arc graphics cards. This is certainly a big step for the blue team – it is now possible to offer relatively compact gaming computers with their own processor and video card.

True, the company has already announced that there will also be video cards from AMD and NVIDIA, so no restrictions are planned in this regard. The user also gets the opportunity to install a solid state drive, the case even has space for installing case fans, which should improve the temperature inside the computer. Although in the case, the side panels of which are 90% mesh, there should be no problems with temperature anyway.
