It has been informed that Loihi is a contrasting CPU that simulates birds through its biological technology. Intel has currently been examining Loihi by inserting it into drones to see lower, and fast powered natural capabilities of the drone. Mike Davies, the leader of Neuromorphic Computing Lab at Intel, said that there’s a big difference between the camera lens and how the eye perceives a picture. When the degree of ground view does not change, the sensor becomes almost deactivated, but still responses quickly.
Information provided by the TechFirst podcast, the new event cameras provide approximately 3 orders of magnitude betterment in latency. The sensors as well give an advantage of saving battery up to 10-100 times.

It was further added that Loihi chips are not only being inserted into the cameras but other parts of the drone as well, and is able to work as a biological brain rather than an electronic computer.
As per Intel, operating old types of chips with new insights cannot be processed well. Intel has been noticing Cockatiels, which in foreign environments, fly around at a speed of 20miles per hour recognizing the directions, the landmarks, and the obstacles it comes across. They also perform brain storming tasks like finding food, communicating with other organisms, and solving issues.
Davies informed that sensors which process information at the lowest latency rate and power, are being transported inside the conventional computing domain. The data which has been offering most dense vectored processing is now coming back into the world of orderly instructions.
He further added that signal operations like a biological brain will improve sensing power, analysis, fasten the speed of the drone, without the need of a power draining CPU. The drone will become as speedy as a Swallow.
With its new technology, Intel is said to be competing with a university in Switzerland named ETH.

A statement given by Davies says “ Neuromorphic Computing is rethinking computing.” In spite of the progress they have had for years, Neuromorphic still lacks the knowledge about computing of natural organisms, their movements, and how they consume data in real time. Together with the brains of humans and the brains of natural organisms, all the hidden capabilities will be exposed which are currently not able to be deployed because of power and performance limitations, or maybe because of the difficulties that arrive in conventionally coding these systems. With the increasing number of microwatt’s power when this process takes place, the world will be upgraded to another level.
It has not yet been confirmed as to when Intel will start shipping this new technology. Also, it has been mentioned that Intel will not be recognized as a drone manufacturer due to licensing its technology to the current upcoming players.
In comparison with Intel, others are also in process of developing smarter and faster drones. Like Exyn Technologies is making drones autonomous with Artificial Intelligence and designing new software to help drones work efficiently.
