Intel succeeded: Arc A370M mobile graphics card is comparable to RTX 3050

Just yesterday, May 9, there was disappointing news that Intel would postpone the release of its discrete graphics to the end of summer 2022, and today tests of a gaming laptop (unreleased MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo) with a mobile Intel Arc A370M discrete graphics card appeared on the network – this was reported by the Wccftech news outlet, citing its sources. And although laptops with this graphics went on sale on March 30, in fact, the batch turned out to be very limited, and you can only buy these gadgets in South Korea. Accordingly, journalists from the United States had to go to the Intel office in order to conduct the necessary tests in benchmarks and video games on a special copy.

Unfortunately, Intel representatives did not allow a sufficient number of tests to be carried out, but in those games and benchmarks that were available, Western journalists noted the very impressive performance of the Arc A370M discrete mobile video card. It performed on par with the RTX 3050 mobile graphics – in some tests, the product of the “blue team” showed more impressive performance, in others it was only slightly inferior. True, it is worth recalling right away that the RTX 3050 is the weakest video card in the Ampere series, while the Arc A370M is almost a mid-ranger in its line (the weakest model is the Arc A350M).

For example, in the 3DMark Time Spy synthetic test, the Intel graphics card scored 4405 points, while the mobile RTX 3050 only scored 3772 points. On the other hand, in the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker benchmark, Arc A370M graphics scored 7196 points, while the NVIDIA product reached 7639 points. The most noticeable gap was registered in Shadow of the Tomb Raider – where the Intel video card showed a stable 59 frames per second, the competitor showed only 50 frames. But, of course, with so many tests, and even in not the most popular video games, it is still problematic to talk about dominance or parity.

On the other hand, the Intel Arc A370M with eight Xe cores, eight ray tracing units and 4 GB of GDDR6 video memory at a power consumption of 35 to 50 W is quite capable of competing with a very good RTX 3050 mobile graphics card. This suggests that the top discrete graphics Arc A770M with 16 GB of memory and much more performance will be able to compete with top NVIDIA graphics cards.
