Intel’s fastest laptop processor comes with 14 cores and 20 threads

Along with the Alder Lake-S line of desktop processors, Intel is also preparing new CPUs for Alder Lake-P laptops, which will be available in both high-performance and base models. It seems that among them will be one of the fastest mobile processors from the manufacturer – the Core i9-12900H.

Alder Lake-P will replace Tiger Lake-H45, Tiger Lake-H35 and Tiger Lake-UP3. It turns out that both basic and high-performance processors belong to the same segment, but will be identified by the names of the “H” and “U” series. Accordingly, the Core i9-12900H is a high-performance CPU that will become one of the fastest, if not the fastest Intel laptop processors.

The Core i9-12900H has already been spotted in the Ashes of The Singularity benchmark. It has 14 cores and 20 threads. This is the maximum configuration you can expect in the Alder Lake-P family. Other specs include 16GB of memory and a GeForce RTX 3080 graphics accelerator.

Specifications such as processor clock speed, cache and memory characteristics are not specified in the AOTS benchmark, and comparison of performance with other models does not make sense due to different versions and the lack of accurate information about the used hardware configuration. Nevertheless, it is important to note the bundle of Core i9-12900H and GPU GeForce. This means that most gaming and powerful laptops in 2022 will continue to be powered by Intel processors with NVIDIA GPUs. But as Intel is making its own GPUs, there will be more fully Intel-based laptops on the market by the end of the first quarter of next year.

Alder Lake-P processors are expected to begin production between November and March. More information will appear in the coming weeks.
