Much of Brazil is expected to be affected by intense rain this Wednesday (27), with the Northeast region under high alert.

On the east coast, between Natal and Recife, there is a warning for accumulated rainfall, with a forecast of between 30 and 60 millimeters per hour or 50 to 100 millimeters per day. Apart from the coast, the risk also extends to Mata Paraibana and Pernambucana, and the East and Agreste Potiguar.

In addition to rain, there are also risks of flooding, landslides and river overflows in cities with such risk areas.

Still in the Northeast, Maranhão, Piauí and Ceará have a warning of risks of electricity cuts, as well as flooding, falling branches and intense winds.

The alerts also extend to the North region, with a “danger” alert in practically all states, except in the north of Amapá and Pará, and throughout the state of Roraima. Rains of between 30 and 60 millimeters per hour or 50 and 100 millimeters per day, as well as intense winds (ranging from 60 to 100 km/h) are also forecast there.

The states of Alagoas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Roraima, Rio de Janeiro and Sergipe do not have an alert, in addition to the Federal District, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

In the Central-West, the alert only extends to the state of Mato Grosso, in the Central-South, Southwest and Southeast regions of the state.

In the Southeast, the alert only applies to São Paulo, being in the region of Vale do Paraíba and the South Coast of São Paulo.
