Interfax: Russian forces from Crimea return to their base in Chechnya

Russian military units that took part in military exercises on the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea (which Russia has illegally annexed since 2014) have returned to their base in the south of the Russian Federation, specifically in Chechnya, according to a telegram from the Interfax news agency. sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Russia has said this week that troops are returning to their bases after completing military exercises in various parts of Russia and Belarus, but the United States and NATO have argued that Moscow is adding instead of withdrawing troops from Ukraine.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that all indications were that Moscow was planning to invade Ukraine immediately, and that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had made similar statements from the UN Security Council.
