International Criminal Court condemns sanctions from Trump

The International Criminal Court (ICC) stated on Friday (7) that he ordered the decision of US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on his team.

Trump authorized on Thursday (6) economic and travel sanctions aiming at people who work in investigations by the International Criminal Court on US citizens or allies of the country, such as Israel, repeating the action he took during his first term.

The measure was a protest against the arrest warrant of the court for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and occurred while Israeli leader was visiting Washington.

The ICC stated that the order would harm its judicial work and urged its 125 member states to “remain united” by justice and human rights.

“The court firmly supports its staff and promises to continue providing justice and hope to millions of innocent victims of atrocities around the world, in all situations before it,” the court said.

The International Criminal Court was created in 2002 to prosecute war crimes, humanity crimes, genocide, and crime of aggression when Member States are not arranged or cannot do so themselves.

He can prosecute crimes committed by citizens of member states or in their territory by other actors.

The United States is not part of the membership.
