Kiss. For more than a year talking about contact has been strange, it sounds almost transgressive and in part it is. The pandemic has forced us to social distancing, to review our way of relating to others, from the closest and dearest people, both physically and by affinity, to those more distant. We have become specialists (and perhaps we have gotten used to it a little) in long-distance relationships, telling us the most important things separated by anti Covid masks and lots of screens, telephones, computers, all the technological devices we have.

Today 13 April is celebrated l’International Kissing Day and to think of the kiss, the real one that brings us back to a very limited distance in an instant, is good for us. All kisses are celebrated, those that animate every relationship of love, friendship, deep bond. Kissing is good (even if it is still important today to protect yourself from infections and respect the anti Covid rules), being able to do it means reduce our level of anxiety and stress (ie the stress hormone cortisol is lowered), ease blood pressure, invigorate, burn calories.

In the gallery above we have included some kisses from all over the world that tell how, even if in a pandemic and therefore often with masks and protective devices, kisses continue to make us dream. In whatever form they come to us.

There are more than one days dedicated to kissing. The one of April 13 was chosen to celebrate the longest kiss that had as protagonists a couple of Thai lovers who they kissed for 46 hours, during a race. The day of July 6 was later chosen, when the same couple participated again in the competition by beating their own record and kissing for 56 hours. In India, the day preceding Valentine’s Day was chosen on 13 February, while in the United States on 22 June.
