The Museum of Image and Sound (MIS) in São Paulo prepared a program in honor of Juliette Binoche for International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8th.
The French actress turns 60 on Friday (9) and has an extensive CV with dozens of films in French and international cinema. She has already been awarded an Oscar for “The English Patient” ; in Caesar, for “Freedom Is Blue” ; and at the Cannes Festival, for “Faithful Copy” .
The free film screening Juliette Binoche starts this Tuesday (5) and runs until Sunday (10). (See schedule below). Tickets can be collected one hour before the session at the MIS box office.
Tuesday, March 5th
- “Alice and Martin” in the LabMIS auditorium, at 3pm
At the age of 10, when he is removed from his mother's family, Martin is forced to live with his father in a small town in the French countryside. His father is an authoritarian figure and their relationship becomes complicated.
At the age of 18, he left home and after wandering around several cities and mountains. He ends his escape in Paris by meeting his brother Benjamin who lives with the beautiful violinist Alice who soon attracts Martin's attention.

A young Israeli travels to France to attend his father's funeral and there he meets Ana, his half-sister. Their approach takes place in a serene and friendly manner, however, during the reading of the will, Ana is shocked by its content, capable of bringing to light truths and secrets that she believed belonged only to her.
Following one of her late father's wishes, Ana goes to Israel to settle accounts with a past that she hid, at the same time as the withdrawal of the armed forces from the Gaza strip.
Wednesday, March 6th
- “Paris” in the LabMIS auditorium, at 3:30 pm
A Parisian falls ill and begins to wonder about death. His new state gives him a new and different perspective on everything that surrounds him and the people he meets. When he feels death nearby, he begins to give another value to his life, the lives of others and the life of the city. From the baker to the social worker, an architect, a university professor, a stowaway, a model – all these people are in Paris.

At the end of the Second World War, an unknown man who suffered widespread burns when his plane was shot down and is known only as the English patient ends up receiving the care of a Canadian nurse.
Gradually he begins to narrate the great involvement he had with his best friend's wife and how this love was strongly reciprocated. But just as certain memories come to mind, other details seem not to come to mind, as if he wanted such facts to remain buried and forgotten.

In 1850, on an island colonized by the French in North America, Neel, a sailor passing through, kills a man in a bar fight and is sentenced to death. However, we have to wait for the guillotine (which had the nickname “widow”) to come from France.
In the meantime, Madame La and her husband strive to convince the population that Neel does not deserve such punishment, that he is a good person and that he can be rehabilitated.
- “Faithful Copy” in the MIS auditorium, at 7:30 pm
James Miller is an English philosopher who goes to a small town in Tuscany to present his book on the value of copying in art. Arriving there, he meets Elle, a French woman who has owned an art gallery for many years, who lives with her pre-teen son. They spend the afternoon together. As they get to know each other, they begin to develop a complex role-playing game.
Friday, March 8
- “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” in the LabMIS auditorium, at 3pm
In the 1960s in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Tomas, a completely apolitical doctor, has a hobby of having several sexual partners, but always avoiding greater involvement. But two women: Sabina, an artist, and Terezaa waitress who dreams of being a photographer, will be very present in his life.
But, when they are hit by the events of 1968, known as “The Prague Spring”, when Soviet tanks invaded the Czech capital to put an end to a series of protests, the life of this love triangle is affected, as their dreams were destroyed and their lives would change forever.

On the Pont-Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris, Alex is a circus performer addicted to alcohol and sedatives, and Michele is a painter condemned to life on the streets due to a failed relationship and who suffers from an illness that has caused her to lose her vision. .
They get closer and, little by little, they manage to get their lives back together. Michele, due to loss of vision, becomes increasingly dependent on Alex. Fearing to lose her, Alex keeps Michele almost imprisoned while a new medical treatment takes place.
- “Freedom is Blue” in the MIS auditorium, at 7:30 pm
After a tragic accident in which her husband and daughter die, famous model Julie decides to give up her own life. She moves away from everyone and everything and assumes anonymity among the Parisian crowd. This ghostly existence is abandoned when she decides to get involved with an important unfinished work by her husband, an internationally famous musician.
Sunday, March 10
- “I salute you, Marina” in the MIS auditorium, at 3pm
Marie is a student who plays basketball and works at her father's gas station while Joseph works as a taxi driver. Upon learning of Marie's pregnancy, he accuses her of cheating. Gabriel tries to convince him to accept divine plans. At the same time, a science teacher who studies the origin of life on Earth becomes involved with a student, with whom he has intense philosophical discussions.
- “Bad blood” in the MIS auditorium, at 5pm
After Halley's comet passes through France, Parisian citizens suffer the consequences: in addition to the intense heat, they must live with a virus that is spreading across the country, killing all people who have sex without love. Two rival groups are fighting to isolate the virus and prepare a vaccine against this new disease.
