The 8th of March is celebrated annually as International Women’s Day. The origin of the choice of date is not precise: there is more than one reason for the date, among them a fire in a factory in New York, in 1911, which killed workers who worked in terrible conditions, and a protest during the Russian Revolution, in 1917 – what these reasons have in common is the omnipresence of the struggle for women’s rights.
On this day, it is traditional for women around the world to organize demonstrations with demands that have changed over the years. Currently, issues such as the fight against inequality of rights and violence against women, and the demand for labor and reproductive rights, were present in almost every meeting.
