Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor has unveiled its new car. This is the Hyundai KONA N, the first crossover in the sports N-series. It combines track capability and high handling with crossover versatility and functionality.
The company’s engineers were inspired by motorsport to create a charged version of Hyundai KONA and they wanted to refute the stereotype that crossovers bring less driving pleasure than sedans with a claim to a sports car. The capabilities of the new car go beyond the usual crossover, as it is capable of both conquering the race tracks and giving unforgettable emotions during daily trips around the city. Responsible for this is the turbocharged 2.0-liter GDI engine paired with an 8-speed wet clutch robotic transmission (N DCT). Engine power is 280 horsepower with a peak torque of 392 Nm, and in N Grin Shift mode, power rises to 290 horses. Acceleration from zero to hundred takes only 5.5 seconds, and the maximum speed that the crossover can reach reaches 240 km / h. True, the KONA N is produced only in a front-wheel drive configuration.

The new Hyundai KONA N stands on 19-inch forged alloy wheels with sports tires and has a sports braking system. The body of the car received a reinforced frame and improved struts, which, according to the manufacturer, allows to increase the rigidity of the body and avoid strong roll of the car during various maneuvers, for example, entering a turn at high speed. Already in the basic configuration, the new model has the Lauch Control function, the Exhaust System exhaust volume control and the N Grin Control system. From the driver assistance systems, there is a frontal collision avoidance system, a car lane keeping system, a driver monitoring system, an automatic high beam control system, intelligent cruise control and blind spot monitoring. And inside the car, the driver is greeted by a digital instrument panel with a 10-inch display and an exclusive head-up screen.
The dates of the start of sales and the cost of the charged Hyundai KONA N are still unknown. But the company announced that it will continue to expand its N and N Line lines and will include up to 18 models by 2022.
