TCL’s new concept phone can fold in and out, allowing for multiple device functionality. The prototype of the device was demonstrated at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.

The dual-fold concept phone is called the Ultra Flex and features a 360-degree rotating hinge as well as a flexible display. Some experts believe that the 360-degree folding mechanism will not be as reliable, so the Ultra Flex may break, but this will only be verified if the phone goes on sale. Since this is a concept phone, it is not yet known whether it will overcome all obstacles to become a commercial product.
Journalists who tested the prototype claim that it makes different sounds when the form factor changes. In general, it is believed that Ulta Flex is still far from becoming a commercial product.

TCL insists that the Ultra Flex will combine the benefits of both types of foldable devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Huawei Mate X. The company says the Ultra Flex offers the benefits of both worlds, though what is the benefit of screen-out folding, which easier to damage, while it’s hard to say.
