Investigation into Matthew Perry’s death could result in multiple charges

The tragic death of Matthew Perry known for his role as Chandler Bing on the Serie “Friends” , triggered a criminal investigation that could result in several arrests. The actor was found dead at the age of 54 in the hot tub of his home in October last year. A later autopsy attributed the cause of death to “acute effects of ketamine.”

Now, according to information obtained by People magazine, an investigation conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to determine how the star – who struggled for years with alcoholism and drug addiction – had access to the substance, would be “getting closer to its conclusion.”

The internal source did not specify to the magazine who the “multiple people” who could be indicted would be, adding that any future prosecution would be handled by the United States Attorney’s Office.

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office revealed in December 2023 that Matthew’s death was drug-related. However, drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine were also listed as contributing factors to the tragedy.

Although the actor was undergoing treatment for ketamine to address anxiety and depression at the time of his death, the autopsy report claimed that “the drug in his system at the time of death could not have come from infusion therapy.”

In his autobiography, “Friends, Love and That Terrible Thing” , released in 2022, Matthew spoke openly about receiving the controversial treatment while in a rehab clinic in Switzerland. In the book, he explained that the synthetic form of the medication is used “to ease pain and help treat depression.”

“They took me to a room, made me sit down, put headphones on so I could listen to music, blindfolded me and put in an intravenous infusion. I thought, ‘This is what happens when you die.’ Still, I continually put myself through this shit because it was something different, and anything was better than nothing. Using ketamine is like getting hit in the head with a giant shovel of happiness. But the hangover was strong and weighed more than the shovel. It wasn’t for me”, recalled the artist.
