Investigators in New Zealand today seized the black box of a Boeing en route to the country that suddenly lost altitude, injuring several passengers, as part of an investigation into the cause of the crash. Passengers said the aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Chilean company Latam which had departed from Sydney and was bound for Auckland with a final destination in Chile, suddenly lost altitude over the Tasman Sea on Monday night. Passengers not wearing seat belts were thrown towards the ceiling. “Everybody started screaming, crying,” described Ellie Addison, an Australian who was among the 263 passengers on flight LA800. “People were thrown out of their seats, blood running down their faces,” he added.
