Part of the international investment company BlackRock, iShares, an exchange-traded fund provider, has applied for SEC to launch an ETF based on the NYSE FactSet Global Blockchain Technologies Index.
According to the document, the Blockchain and tech ETF will include companies related to mining, its infrastructure and trading in digital assets. It will also feature shares of blockchain companies and chip manufacturers.
The structure will not directly own cryptocurrencies or their derivatives.
The NYSE FactSet Global Blockchain Technologies Index is a market capitalization-weighted index of stocks adjusted for their free float. It replicates the dynamics of the securities of US and foreign companies that are involved in the development, innovation and use of blockchain and crypto technologies,” the statement said.
Recall that in November, BlackRock ruled out the launch of its own crypto-ETF in the near future.
