The Consumer Price Index (IPC), which measures inflation in the city of São Paulo, rose 0.43% in February, slowing down from the advance of 0.63% in January and also against the gain of 0.47% verified in the third quadrissemana of last month, according to data published this Thursday (2) by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe).
The February result was below the estimates of financial market institutions consulted by Projeções Broadcast, which ranged from 0.44% to 0.78%, with a median of 0.46%.
In the first two months, the IPC-Fipe accumulated inflation of 1.06%. In the 12 months through January, the index rose 6.70%.
In the second month of 2023, four of the seven groups comprising the IPC-Fipe lost strength: Housing (from 0.68% in January to 0.61% in February), Transport (from 0.77% to 0.21%), Health (from 0.49% to 0.15%) and Education (from 5.57% to 0.32%).
On the other hand, there was acceleration in the categories Personal Expenses (from -0.45% in January to 0.24% in February) and Apparel (from 1.04% to 1.09%).
In Food, costs rose 0.36% in February, repeating the variation of the previous month.
