IPC-S drops 1.19% in July compared to 0.67% in June, says FGV

The Consumer Price Index – Weekly (IPC-S) dropped 1.19% at the end of July, after deflation of 0.44% in the third quadrissemana and high of 0.67% in June.

The information was released this Monday (1st) by Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV).

The indicator accumulated inflation of 8% in the 12 months through July, lower than the advance of 10.31% in the period through May.

Five of the eight categories of expenses that make up the indicator decreased in the variation between the third four weeks of July and the end of the month, with emphasis on Transport (-2.88% to -4.81%), driven by gasoline (-8, 61% to -14.24%).

Education, Reading and Recreation (-1.31% to -4.06%), Housing (-0.37% to -0.70%), Food (1.50% to 1.34%) and Clothing (0 .59% to 0.47%) were the other groups to register deceleration in the period.

In these classes, there was relief in airfare (-6.92% to -19.81%), residential electricity tariff (-3.51% to -5.13%), fruit (5.90% to 4.85 %) and women’s clothing (0.37% to 0.04%), respectively.

On the other hand, Health and Personal Care (0.25% to 0.45%), Communication (-0.18% to -0.09%) and Miscellaneous Expenses (0.28% to 0.30%) increased in their rates of change.

In these groups, the most influential items were toiletries and personal care (-1.49% to -0.42%), telephony, internet and pay-TV combo (-0.30% to 0.29%) and cigarettes (1.72% to 2.52%).

Gasoline (-8.61% to -14.24%), airfare (-6.92% to -19.81%) and residential electricity tariff (-3.51% to -5.13%) were the items that most contributed to the decline in the IPC-S between the third quarter and the end of July.

Tomatoes (-18.49% to -22.39%) and ethanol (-9.83% to -11.02%) complete the list.

In the other direction, long-life milk (22.44% to 22.11%), health plan and insurance (1.17% to 1.17%) and mozzarella cheese (9.00% to 9.33%) were the items that most pressured the indicator up, followed by meals in bars and restaurants (0.77% to 0.67%) and plantain (6.83% to 7.86%).
