Ipec poll, new British prime minister takes over and more than 6 September

The new Globo/Ipec poll for the October presidential elections and the meeting between Queen Elizabeth II and the new British premier Liz Truss are among the highlights of this Tuesday (6).

Ipec poll for president: Lula has 44%; Bolsonaro, 31%

A Globo/Ipec poll on the presidential race released this Monday (5th) shows Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) ahead, with 44% of voting intentions, followed by Jair Bolsonaro (PL), with 31%. The first round of elections is scheduled for October 2.

Then appear Ciro Gomes (PDT), with 8%, and Simone Tebet (MDB), with 4%. Felipe D’Avila (Novo) and Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil) have 1%.

Eymael (DC), Léo Péricles (UP), Pablo Marçal (Pros), Sofia Manzano (PCB) and Vera Lúcia (PSTU) did not score.

Roberto Jefferson (PTB) appeared in the survey and also did not score. He had his candidacy rejected by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) on account of convictions. As a result, the party chose Father Kelmon as a substitute in the race for the Palácio do Planalto. However, there was no time for him to be included in this research.

Liz Truss will take over as premier this Tuesday (6), after meeting with the Queen

The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss will officially assume the position this Tuesday (6), after meeting with Queen Elizabeth II, as determined by British tradition.

For the first time in history, Queen Elizabeth will not travel to London to carry out the premier’s appointment.

The meeting will take place at Balmoral – and no longer at Buckingham Palace in London. The reception at Balmoral is a historic first for his 70-year reign.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said the 96-year-old monarch will not make the roughly 1,600km round trip from Scotland and will instead travel to North London, followed by an audience with the elected.

Liz Truss was elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Monday (5), becoming the third woman to hold the position. The Conservative was elected with almost 57.4% of the vote in an internal party vote.

In final speech, Boris Johnson praises his achievements and does not talk about scandals

Boris Johnson’s final speech as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on Tuesday followed the same tone as many of his previous public speeches: he extolled what he sees as his achievements, made no mention of his failures or scandals and showed a glimmer of bitterness for those who collaborated in his downfall.

The list of claims Johnson appealed was well-rehearsed, but he was also interested in defining himself as a statesman. Early on, he cited his response to the Ukraine crisis, suggesting that the UK’s arms supply “helped change the course of Europe’s biggest war in 80 years.”

As he concluded his speech, he added among his government’s triumphs: “To speak with clarity and authority, from Ukraine to the Aukus pact with America and Australia, because we are an entire United Kingdom, whose diplomatic security services and armed forces are so admired globally.”

Lula meets with campaign committee, and Bolsonaro meets heads of state

This Tuesday (6), candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), at the head of the CNN/Locomotiva research aggregator, meets with the campaign coordinator at 10 am in a hotel in São Paulo.

Ciro Gomes (PDT) will be in São Paulo. The pedestrian’s day begins in the city center, where he has a meeting with shopkeepers at 10 am. At 12:30 pm, he gives an online interview about his proposals for the Amazon.

At 7:30 pm, he participates in a RedeTV! And he closes the day with a live broadcast on his channel, Ciro TV, at 8:45 pm.

Simone Tebet (MDB) spends the day in Brasília. In the morning, she has a meeting with the associations of Federal Prosecutors and Federal Police delegates. At 1:10 pm, she participates in the Correio Braziliense’s Sabbath with TV Brasília. At 3 pm, she participates in a meeting with the ambassadors of the EU Member States in Brazil.

Bolsonaro goes to the TSE against Lula’s propaganda about the purchase of real estate

The President of the Republic and candidate for re-election, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), filed for representation in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) against electoral propaganda of the opponent in the dispute, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

In the lawsuit filed this Tuesday (6), Bolsonaro’s campaign asks that videos with news about the purchase of real estate with cash be removed from the air.

The coalition of the current president also asks, as a preliminary injunction, that the retransmission of the content, in any medium, be prohibited, under penalty of criminal liability.
