According to South Korean media, Samsung Display and LG Display will be the main suppliers of OLED panels for iPhone 13 smartphones.
South Korean manufacturers will ship 6.1-inch screens for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, and 6.7-inches for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Sources say the screens of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will support a high refresh rate of 120Hz, as well as Freesync technology to avoid potential tearing. We are talking about LTPO-type screens that were previously used in the Samsung Galaxy Note20 and Galaxy S20 lines. They feature good energy efficiency at a high refresh rate.
Due to LG’s inexperience in LTPO, it will only supply LTPS panels to Apple for the standard iPhone 13 model. LG is expected to ship 40 million screens, while Samsung will provide Apple with 120 million screens for the iPhone 13 line.
Additionally, Samsung’s OLED panel for the iPhone 13 will be based on the M11 luminescent material that will initially appear in the Galaxy S21.
The presentation of the iPhone 13 is expected in September this year.
