iPhone 13 becomes China’s best-selling phone, Honor sees rapid growth

The Apple iPhone 13 was the top-selling smartphone in China in January, with sales of 2.3 million units. For the fourth month in a row, the standard version of the iPhone 13 has been at the top of the Chinese chart. Prior to this, the iPhone had not topped this chart for six years.

The iPhone 13 made up a significant portion of all Apple sales in January in China, with the company selling 5.1 million smartphones in total. This is 11.4% more than in January last year.

The Chinese market actually remained at the level of last year (+0.4%), but grew by 38.6% compared to December. In total, 30.87 million smartphones were sold in the country.

Oppo leads the market with 5.4 million units sold, down 20% from January last year. The best-selling phones were Oppo Reno 7 5G and Oppo A56 5G. Vivo is in second place, barely ahead of Honor. Vivo also lost ground (-13.2%), while Honor’s sales skyrocketed and more than tripled year-over-year. Huawei is no longer in the top 5.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi slipped to 5th place with a 12.7% drop from last year. The result of 4.4 million smartphones means that the company has been overtaken by both Honor and Apple.
