According to 9to5Mac, citing analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a periscope camera with 5x optical zoom.
Analyst Jeff Pu indicated that the Cupertino-based company is now in talks with Lante Optics, a company that is expected to become the main lens supplier for iPhone periscope cameras next year. Apple has reportedly already received lens samples from the firm, with a final decision due by May 2022.
If Apple decides that the components meet its quality standards, it will use them in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. In the event that the companies close the deal on these components, Lante Optics will receive an order for more than 100 million modules. Obviously, this will have a positive impact on the revenues of Lante Optics.
Earlier, another analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the company is considering including a periscope camera in the 2023 iPhone. After Jeff Pu’s post, the chances that Apple will improve the iPhone’s scaling capabilities in 2023 become even greater.
It is worth noting that Samsung and Huawei have already implemented such technology in their smartphones, which can provide zoom levels from optical 10x to combined 100x zoom.
