The first beta version of the iOS 14.5 mobile platform introduces a feature that will make life easier for many iPhone users. Apple has finally solved the problem of using Face ID to unlock a smartphone in a pandemic, when users are required to constantly wear a mask.
Apple began to take the first steps in this direction last year – in 13.5, simplified access to the passcode entry field on devices with Face ID, when the user is wearing a mask, appeared.
IOS 14.5 fixes the issue so that you don’t need to enter a password. The innovation requires an Apple Watch to be connected to the iPhone. In the settings in the “Face ID and Passcode” section, the item “Unblock with Apple Watch” has appeared.

To unlock the smartphone using the Apple Watch, the watch must be on the user’s wrist (wrist recognition must be activated) unlocked.
There are also pitfalls – anyone in a mask can unlock your iPhone if you are nearby and the watch on your wrist is unlocked. Fortunately, the watch notifies you of unlocking your iPhone by vibration and immediately gives out a large “Lock iPhone” button.
