iPhone SE 2022 sales will start to fall when the iPhone 14 line of smartphones hits the market

Digitimes analysts Sean Lean and Luke Lean estimate that shipments of the new Apple iPhone SE 2022 smartphone, which is being released today in many regions of the world, will be about 30 million units, which is approximately the same as the shipments of the iPhone SE 2020 smartphone.

The source writes that Apple has already prepared about 5 million components for the new iPhone SE in the first quarter of this year, but actual shipments will be lower. However, next quarter shipments are expected to increase to 11 million units and remain at the same level in the third quarter. Shipments will begin to decline only from the fourth quarter, when the smartphones of the iPhone 14 line appear on the market.

The iPhone SE 2022, along with phones from Samsung and Chinese OEMs, is expected to significantly increase shipments of 5G-enabled mobile phones in global markets in 2022. In 2021, a total of about 280 million 5G-enabled mobile phones were sold to markets outside of China. This number is expected to increase by more than 60% to 450 million units this year, accounting for 63.5% of global shipments.

But since 80% of phone shipments in China are already 5G-enabled models, shipments in the region are not expected to grow as much in 2022.

As we already reported, Apple will not sell the new iPhone SE and other new products in Russia, but the App Store will continue to work.
