iPhone SE, Apple’s new budget smartphone is on its way

SELF, Special Edition. The first iPhone SE it came out in 2016 and had a good success. So much to convince Apple to propose another updated version during 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. This second model, which in the Apple range was to replace the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, actually recovered the design from the 8 and part of the hardware and features from the iPhone 11. It will be out of production and commercial offer shortly to make room for the third generation of (relatively) low cost iPhones. Which could be called iPhone SE +.

If this year should be an update that will revolve around the hardware, without straying too far from the old rounded design, the jump of lines is expected to take place next year. A sign that the SE family is no longer an experiment or a spin-off but an integral part of the iPhone world: an excellent entry model for those who do not want to faint but have the need or curiosity to experience the ecosystem of Cupertino.

The new iPhone SE will support the 5G connectivity and, as explained by both leaker Ross Young and by TrendForce production is basically starting. This means it could be the iPhone of spring: we’ll see a May or, perhaps, ad April. The design as mentioned will be that of the current SEs while from next year it will scale towards a design similar to the iPhone XR, with Touch ID integrated into the power button. An iPhone SE currently costs money from 499 to 550 euros depending on memory.

These forecasts are added to the scenario already designed in recent months by the expert analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who, in addition to confirming the aesthetic continuity with the second generation, had announced the integration of a faster processor, in all probability a A15 Bionic. What we use in the iPhone 13 presented a few months ago. On the other hand, it is difficult to see an iPhone SE with a larger display already this year: it will enrich the family from 2023.
