The best photo of the year taken with an iPhone is by the Hungarian journalist Istvan Kerekes: a shot made with un iPhone 7 in Transilvania, to two shepherds who in a snowy and desolate industrial landscape gently hold a pair of lambs in their arms. It is the winner of the Grand Prize of the iPhone Photography Awards 2021: the most coveted among the prizes of the most famous competition for those who tell the world with the aim of an Apple device.
See all the winning photos in the gallery above: the poetics «Bonding» taken in India by Sharan Shetty which portrays a man next to his horse who has earned the First Place Photographer of the Year, and all the others that finished first for the 17 categories in the race – ranging from travel to architecture, from children to nature – of this competition born out of passion, and absolutely independent from the Cupertino house, which for 14 editions has now involved thousands of professionals and amateurs from all over the world, giving wonderful images.
This year Italy stands out, first of all with the winning image for the category «Panorama», taken with an iPhone XS from Gabriele Rodriguez. Accountant from Verona and a great lover of mobile art (@gabrielerodriquez), he took the shot last February during a trek on Monte Sparavieri in front of the Carega Group mountains, in the Little Dolomites. “The temperatures and weather conditions were excellent. I reached the summit with ice crampons and from the top I took many photos of the low clouds that enveloped the valley “, said Rodriguez.
Three other Italians earned second or third place among the categories in the competition. Matteo Lava, (@matteolava_photography) consultant for safety at work and photography enthusiast, is the third place in the category Abstract with his «Frozen Lines» photo taken on the frozen lakes of St. Moritz with his iPhone 8 Plus:
Carlotta Consonni (@carlotta_consonni) is instead the second classified in the category Other with his «Isolation» photo, taken during the lockdown in Monza with his iPhone XS.
The photographer Alessandra Manzotti (@amanzottifoto) is instead the third classified in the category People with his photo “Holding On” taken during the lockdown in the Sienese countryside of his 90-year-old father with iPhone 8.
