IPTO is immediately proceeding with the energy shielding of the Ionian Islands, which has already started the tender process for another important investment project, which concerns the replacement of the Killini-Zakynthos Transmission Line with new cable systems of state-of-the-art technology.
Yesterday, the relevant tender was announced, which includes the design, supply and installation of underground and underwater AC cables of 150 kV, with the aim of fully upgrading the outdated cable connection Kyllini-Zakynthos, which was put into operation in the early 1980s.
The total length of the underwater section of the new interconnection is 21 km and the underground sections (in Kyllini and Zakynthos) ΄ at 1.65 km.
As part of the project, IPTO will install a three-pole cable, XLPE type insulation, with a carrying capacity of 200 MVA and fiber optics integration.
The project for the replacement of the cable connection Kyllini-Zakynthos:
– It has a budget of 25 million euros and its construction duration is estimated at 10 months.
– It is part of a broader program for the complete modernization of electricity transmission infrastructure in the Ionian Islands, totaling about 100 million euros and with a five-year horizon.
– It is one of the new projects of the updated DPA 2023-2032, with which IPTO takes care of the technological upgrade and the strengthening of the durability of the electrical system
