The payment of the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) for vehicle owners in the state of São Paulo begins to expire this Wednesday (11). Owners of vehicles with license plates ending in 1 must pay the tax first.
The value of the IPVA can be paid in cash or in installments and, depending on the situation, there is a discount.
If paid this month, in a single installment, there will be a 3% discount. If the payment is made in cash, but in February, there is no such discount.
If you choose to pay in installments, also without a discount, it can be done between 3 and 5 times, with the minimum amount of the installment being BRL 68.52. According to the Government of São Paulo, the values are as follows:
- In 3 installments, from January to March (IPVA between R$ 205.56 and R$ 274.07);
- In 4 installments, from January to April (IPVA between R$ 274.08 and R$ 342.59);

In addition, the licensing of the vehicle is prevented, with the possibility of being seized and the transit authority can impose a fine, in addition to points on the driver’s license. The person will also not be able to use the credits from the Nota Fiscal Paulista.
