IPValue, a patent buying and licensing company, has acquired over 1,200 patents and patent applications from Mitsubishi Electric’s display design and manufacturing business. Spanning a wide range of technologies including OLED, this intellectual property is the result of over two decades of research and development. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In 2010, Mitsubishi Electric launched the world’s first large-size display system based on OLED technology. The development, dubbed Diamond Vision OLED, made it possible to create screens of 100 inches diagonally or larger from OLED panels using seamlessly connected square modules with a side length of 384 mm. The modular design made it possible to form screens of the required configuration, including enveloping rounded surfaces. The thickness of the resulting screen is 99 mm.
