Iran: A month of rage after the death of Mahsha Amini

Almost a month has passed since death on September 16 of Mahsa Aminiof a 22-year-old woman who was arrested in Tehran by the moral police because she wasn’t wearing her headscarf properly, which sparked a wave of bloody protests in Iran.

The Oslo-based non-governmental organization Iran Human Rights (IHR) reported that at least 108 people have lost their lives in the repression of the protests. APE-MPE records the chronicle of Amini’s death which causes domino developments in Iran.

She was arrested for not wearing her headscarf properly and fell into a coma

On September 15, human rights activists report that a 22-year-old Iranian woman fell into a coma after her arrest on the 13th of the same month in Tehran by the morality police for violating the strict dress code of the Islamic Republic, which mainly obliges women to wear a headscarf.

According to the police, the young woman “suddenly experienced a cardiac problem”.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi calls for an investigation.

Mahsa Amini dies on September 16 in hospital. Activists claim he received a fatal blow to the head.

The police, for their part, assure that “there was no physical contact” with the young woman. State television broadcast video clips from the police station to support this version.

On October 10th the wave of dispute extends to the oil sector, with strikes and gatheringss at the Asalugeh petrochemical plant in southwest Iran, Abadan in the west of the country, or Bushehr in the south, according to the IHR.

The 27 member states of the European Union agree to impose sanctions on Iranian officials involved in the crackdown.
