Iran against France at the UN: “unfounded and politically motivated” Nuclear charges

Iran officially reacted to recent public statements by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Baro after a closed Security Council meeting on April 28, 2025, denouncing reports of “imminent nuclear weapons” from Iran as “unfounded”. In his letter to the President of the Security Council, Iran’s permanent representative described the French foreign minister’s claim as “non -existent”, “politically irresponsible” and contrary to international law and confirmed evidence. Iran reiterated its irrevocable commitment to the Nuclear Weapons Non -spreading Treaty (NPT), stating that it “never sought to acquire nuclear weapons” and that “its defensive doctrine has not changed”. He cited continuous surveillance by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), noting that “IAEA continues to monitor and verify the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program” and that all its reports confirm “no divergence of nuclear material”.
