Iran and Syria announced the establishment of a joint bank today, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported, citing statements by Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Kasemi.

“Tehran and Damascus have decided to set up a joint bank,” said the Iranian minister, who is visiting Syria and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to discuss the state of the Syrian economy and Iran-Iran issues. -Syrian economic relations.

The decision to establish a joint bank was taken during a meeting with Syrian Foreign and Immigration Minister Faisal Mikdad. The bank will have representative offices in both countries.

Among other things, it was decided that after the end of Kasemi’s visit to Syria, a meeting of the directors of the civil aviation services of the two countries would be held to promote cooperation in the field of aviation. The head of Iran’s free economic zones will also visit Syria to discuss the creation of a joint free economic zone on Syrian territory. It is planned to set up Iranian tractor and agricultural equipment factories in Syria, to abolish tariffs on bilateral trade.
