Iran: Dozens of foreigners handcuffed for participating in protests over Amini’s death

There are 40 foreign nationals who have been arrested in Iran as they participated in the protests sparked by death of 22-year-old Amini who had been detained by the moral police.

Demonstrations protests are taking place in the Islamic Republic following the death of 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish Mahsha Amini, who was detained on September 16 by morality police because her clothing was deemed “inappropriate”.

So far, 40 foreign nationals have been arrested for their involvement in the protests” pointed out during a televised press conference the representative of the Iranian judiciary, Massoud Setiagesi, without revealing their nationalities, as reported by the Athens News Agency.

In September, Tehran announced that nine Europeans had been arrested for participating in the protests.

Tehran has accused foreign enemies and their agents of orchestrating the protests, which turned into a popular uprising by Iranians from all walks of life in one of the boldest challenges to clerical rule since the 1979 revolution.
