Iran had direct talks with the US amid growing conflict with Israel

US Special Envoy Steve Whitkov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakzi have spoken several times by phone since Israel began blows against Iran last week, in an effort to end the crisis through diplomacy, they told Reuters. According to diplomats, who called for their anonymity to be complied with due to the sensitivity of the issue, Arakzi said Tehran would not return to the negotiations until Israel stops the attacks on June 13.
