Iran: “illegal” sanctions by nuclear program should be suspended, says Russia

Kremlin said on Friday that the sanctions imposed by Western countries on Iran for their nuclear program were illegal and should be suspended.

The statements were made during China’s meeting with Iran and Russia, in which Beijing and Moscow supported Tehran after the United States demanded nuclear negotiations with the Persian country, with Chinese diplomats and high -ranking Russians saying that the dialogue should only be resumed based on “mutual respect.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Iran had never announced his intention to develop nuclear weapons, but had every right to develop his civil nuclear energy program, something he said Moscow was helping.

“The Iranian side never talked about its intention to acquire nuclear weapons,” said Peskov. “So, in this sense, all sanctions and restrictions [a ele] They are illegal. ”

He said efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the problem should continue.
