Iran’s right to enrich uranium is not negotiable, said Foreign Minister Araqchi Abbas on Wednesday (16).
The speech came before a second round of negotiations in Oman next weekend with the United States about the contested Nuclear Tehran program.
Araqchi was responding to a comment made on Tuesday (15) by the main US negotiator, Steve Witkoff, who commented that Tehran has to “stop and eliminate his nuclear enrichment” to reach an agreement with Washington.
“We hear contradictory statements of Witkoff, but the real positions will be clarified at the negotiation table,” said Araqchi.
He continued adding, “We are ready to build confidence in possible concerns about Iran’s enrichment (uranium), but the principle of enrichment is not negotiable.”
Iran and the US are expected to hold a second round of negotiations in Oman on Saturday (19) about the escalation of the Tehran nuclear program, with President Donald Trump threatening a military action if there is no agreement.
